        David Ferguson on Galatians 2:20

David Ferguson, minister in Dunfermline in the time of King James VI of Scotland, was born of lowly stock, but having been endowed with a great gift of powerful preaching he was God's instrument for awakening many to see their own guilt and their need of a Saviour. One of the earliest pastors in the reformed church in Scotland, he was more than once Moderator of the Assembly. He died in a good old age.

The threatening of death, Gen. ii. 17, is fulfilled in the elect so that they die, and yet their lives are spared: they die, and yet they live, for they are reckoned in law to have died when Christ their surety died for them.

The Marrow of Modern Divinity (part I. The Covenant of Works & The Covenant of Grace), by Edward Fisher, with notes by Thomas Boston. The above lines were quoted by Mr Boston.
